Information
We have collected 50s, 60s, 70s artifacts for 30 years. Our collection began in 1975 in Chicago with the purchase of a Milo Baughman 3 piece sectional sofa and 2 Venini pendant lamps. Pieces only appeared north of Lincoln Park and around Diversey Avenue on the Near North. Deco was big but mid-century was rare.
During our 30 year residence in San Diego California we were able to acquire mid-century furnishings from San Diego county, Palm Springs and Los Angeles. In Richmond, Virginia we have a retail gallery called Metro Modern in the historic Fan District.
Metro Modern maintains an extensive inventory of European and American Modernist antique furniture, lighting, fine art, jewelry, ceramics, glass and metalwork. Included are items from all the major design periods from Art Deco and Moderne through the 1970s. Designer and signed works are represented along with unsigned pieces of great integrity. We also showcase contemporary crafts persons and artists within Richmond’s rich artistic community.
